Tribal jewelry from Gloria Ewing began with a love of indigenous cultures throughout the world. My jewelry designs have a primitive character and an uninhibited style. Vintage African elements are key to the themes, as well as some of my handmade components, and those of other artisans.

Primitive Charms
A few weeks ago I had some silver clay leftover from a project and decided to make some primitive charms. I cut the freeform shapes with an exacto knife so they would not be consistent. Some of my stamps are better suited for clay than they are for sheet metal stamping so I experimented with them in the soft clay. Then I needed a way to treat the edges of the charms and add interest at the same time. An ordinary salad fork was the perfect edge crimper.
These rustic primitive Sterling silver charms should be great with tribal bracelets or necklaces.
